
OUR PASTOR

Elder Latasha Hicks a native of Butner, NC, was born to Shelia and the late Ronald Moss. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Robert Hicks, since October 2010 and together they have 5 children. Latasha attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics. As a college student, she joined the Neo-Black Society Gospel Choir and it was during this time that Latasha gave her life to Christ and since then, she has grown in her love for Christ and his people.
Upon graduating college, Latasha began to work as a middle school math teacher for Guilford County Schools while furthering her education. In 2009, Latasha obtained her Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. She is currently a teacher in the Wake County Public School System, where she teaches 8th-grade math.
In April of 2018, after much prayer, Latasha decided to walk in full obedience to the call of the Lord upon her life. She did her initial sermon on October 26th of the same year at Greater Joy Baptist Church of Butner under the leadership of her Pastor, Reverend Kimberly Evans, and on January 22, 2023, became the Senior Pastor of GJB.
Latasha has made it her goal to operate in accordance with the will of God for her life, while teaching, preaching, and positively impacting the lives of everyone that crosses her path.
